Organizing an Electronics Recycling Day for the City of Beacon

I'm working with the CAC in Beacon to organize an electronics recycling event for July, here in Beacon. It's slated for Saturday July 23, from 9:00-1:00pm at the Municipal Center (where the police station is). The team from Advanced Recovery INC will unload all the stuff from peoples' cars, and it ought to be a convenient and easy event.

We'd talked about involving the Sloop Club in the event, to help them raise funds for their current campaign. Unfortunately, a legal issue arose and we've decided to hold off on sponsoring the Sloop Club for this particular event. However, a bucket for donations to the Club will be available at the event for anyone who would like to support their efforts!

This event is the first of many for Beacon, hopefully spurring efforts to responsibly recycle e-waste in neighboring towns. No other town in Dutchess County has focused on an e-waste event, with the exception of the Household Hazardous Waste Collection days, organized by DCRRA, that take e-waste.

Look for more info at the Strawberry Festival this weekend - we'll be there with an e-waste table, talking about the July 23 event. More info will be posted soon, along with downloadable flyers for anyone who would like to help in spreading the word about a local resource for bringing broken electronics.
Thanks!
