Beacon’s Second Electronics Recycling Day Draws Hundreds
On Saturday, October 22,
over 375 vehicles, including people on bicycles, in cars, vans and trucks, came
to drop off electronics for recycling at Beacon’s City Hall. People brought in
over 30,000 pounds of electronics from businesses and homes in Beacon and
surrounding towns and counties. This second event topped Beacon’s first
Electronics Recycling Day in July, which drew 300 vehicles. As many grateful
participants noted, this is one of few opportunities to recycle electronics in
Southern Dutchess County.

This great event was
organized by Beacon’s own Zero to Go and WeRecycle!, a national leader in
socially and environmentally responsible domestic electronics recycling. The
collection event was sponsored by the City of Beacon, the Mayor's office, and
the Conservation Advisory Committee.
The organizers would like to thank Beacon’s Highway Department and
Police for their assistance with the event.
Another electronics
recycling event for Beacon is being planned for Spring 2012. For more
